Our clothing brand is inspired by nature – to help you to be true to your nature.

When I was launching Rose and Redwood, I was looking for ways to spread the message – Nurture your true nature.™ I had been a consultant and kept noticing how many people were burned out, disconnected from their values and working in roles that didn’t use their strengths. The workplaces tended to be dominated by a spirit of competition, ‘growth hacking’ and ‘doing more with less.’ Conversations typically started with “I know you’re busy…” or the speaker would answer the question being asked, such as “How are you doing? Good?” which would often cut off real conversation and connection.

The phrase “nurture your true nature” was a phrase that resonated with me because it hints at slowing down, taking care, uncovering your strengths and values and finding a space to become who you are meant to be – who you are authentically.

Our clothes send messages of love, courage, miracles and balance.

As I was developing the Rose and Redwood brand, my spirit knew ultimately I’d want to – need to – create programs to inspire children to have the courage to be authentic, to rise up and to lead change. From the beginning, the proceeds from sales of the clothing went right to that effort. It still does.

And I also felt led to nurture the adult’s INNER CHILD – all of us who left part of our true nature behind to fit in, who may have forgotten who we were or needed encouragement to embrace our unique gifts and give them to the world. And the inner child needs LOVE, PEACE, ABUNDANCE and BALANCE.

I searched to find clothing that felt GOOD. Woven cotton blends. High quality fabric. Flattering styles. I partnered with a vendor, hired artists and created and launched several designs.

Jasmine represents love and beauty. Helichrysum represents peace and tranquility. Mushrooms represent abundance. And our logo communicates balance.

Each design carries a story. Stories help us connect to our inner selves – when we’re drawn to a story we slow down, connect and tap into how we feel. It’s the opposite of busy. It’s the opposite of being disconnected. Instead, we reach into our deeper self and something important is revealed.

• The mushroom represents unseen abundance, the energy of transformation, prosperity and rebirth. This comfortable shirt sends the message of optimism, abundance and appreciation for the welcome surprises that surround us when we pause to look for them.

• Helichrysum, known as the everlasting flower, releases mental fatigue and stress to promote peace and tranquility.

• Beautiful jasmine is associated with love – and it’s gentle complexity represents this emotion well.

When you walk in nature and pause to let it speak to you, it tells the story of life, death and rebirth. Nature sends us quiet messages. And if we give nature the gift of our full attention, it will teach us exactly what we need to learn.
